Angels&&demons and the da vinci code?

i've just finished angels and demons and i've read the da vinci code a couple of years back, and i've been really enthusiastic and excited to see the movie and everything, but eveyrtime i so much as mention these books my friend, who is a christian, frowns and asks me why i'm even reading those books. and i don't know why she believes that reading those books are so bad. i mean, i'm a fully devoted christian and i believe and follow christ and i have faith in him, but she says that if i truly had faith in jesus christ then i wouldn't even be reading those books in the first place, and then i told her that if you really believed in christ then you wouldn't become corrupted (resist the temptation, you know?) and on the facts page, dan brown didn't say that the theories were historically accurate, but she still doesn't believe that it's morally right to read his books. my question is: should i read them? i mean, is it wrong for a christian to read his books?
