CAD/CAM engineers....?

How promising is the field of cad/cam and PLM. All designing software fascinates me and i like designing and operating softwares like catia , pro e, autocad. Though i am not professionally fluent in using these software. I am ready and would love to learn other softwares too. I just wanted to know how promising career is in this field.
